Katy Perry attends Met Gala amid probe into alleged Ruby Rose sexual assault
Published in Entertainment News
NEW YORK — Katy Perry attended the Met Gala on Monday with her face covered as Australian authorities investigate the pop star for sexual assault allegations made by “Orange Is the New Black” alum Ruby Rose.
The “Firework” singer, 41, celebrated “Costume Art” Monday when she arrived at fashion’s biggest night in a white Stella McCartney gown and matching evening gloves. But it was the headpiece, which covered her face in metal, that stole the show, in what Cosmopolitan likened to a “fencing astronaut.” That tracks — a year out from her lightning rod of a Blue Origin flight.
At the moment though, Perry is embroiled in a more serious controversy, facing new accusations of assault.
Victoria Police last month confirmed to TMZ that they were investigating an alleged “historical sexual assault” from 2010. Citing the ongoing nature, they said “it would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage.”
Days prior, 40-year-old Rose said on Threads that in her “early 20s,” that “Katy Perry sexual assaulted me at spice market nightclub in Melbourne. Who gives a s–t what she thinks.”
“Though I am so grateful to have made it long enough to find my voice, it just shows how much of an impact trauma and sexual assault takes. Thank you for seeing me,” Rose wrote at the time, later adding she would be reporting “a long list” of such alleged incidents — not just with relation to Perry — to police.
A representative for Perry — who has denied allegations of sexual misconduct dating back to 2018 — said in a statement shared with the Daily News that the allegations were “not only categorically false, they are dangerous reckless lies.”
